Get to know D.A. Collins Construction Co., Inc.’s (DAC) Project Engineer, Kyle Kuebler.

In his 4 years in the industry, Kyle has provided insight and managed the construction process on a variety of DAC projects throughout the region. On his current project, Kyle is using his technical knowledge and construction management experience to help complete a marine construction project in Albany NY.

How did you get into the industry?

“I grew up working for my family construction company (Kuebler Enterprises, Inc.) which specializes in high-end residential construction and remodeling. I was intrigued by the construction industry and pursued a degree in Civil Engineering to heighten my understanding of the technical aspects of the industry to pursue a career in the field.”

“I attended Clarkson University where I received my B.S. Civil Engineering (with minors in Mathematics & Business in 2017. I then received a Master’s in Business Administration in 2018.”

What project are you working on now?

“I’m involved in the NYSOGS Wedgewire Screen & Pump House Upgrades project in Albany, NY.”

“This project involves the installation of a cylindrical wedgewire screen system at the intake of the existing screenhouse within the Hudson River. The project includes dredging of the riverbed, pile driving, installation of precast concrete manifolds under the water surface, installation of structural steel infrastructure, and installation of four (4) cylindrical wedgewire screens and associated operational equipment.”

What has been the most challenging aspect of this project?

“Heavy highway and marine construction are high-paced and complex industries. The challenge of being in the field self-performing and general contracting the work is exciting and extremely rewarding when the final product is completed to meet and exceed owner expectations.”

“This project is a unique and complex project for us in the marine construction sector that requires Building Information Modeling (BIM) of the entire structure to eliminate potential clashes between trades in the field prior to fabrication and installation.”

“I look forward to putting a thorough plan together and working towards putting this impressive structure together in the field.”
