Meet Our Team! ABCD Eastern Chapter Board Members: Laura Stone, P.E. & Koby Greene, P.E.

D.A. Collins is proud to be involved with the Eastern New York Chapter of the Association for Bridge Construction and Design. This group brings together individuals that represent different sectors including engineers, owners, educators, and material suppliers.

Founded in response to the bridge crisis in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, ABCD is focused on bridge safety through education of the public, engineers, and public and private authorities. We are proud to be members of this essential organization, and have been since the Eastern Chapter was established in 1994.

Koby Greene, P.E

Koby is an RPI graduate licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) in 4 states: NY, VT, PA, MA, and one of four on staff. He has been a member of ABCD since 2009 and was a member of the Board of Directors from 2014-2020, two three-year terms.

Q. What made you want to join ABCD?

D.A. Collins Companies has been involved with the chapter since its inception. While attending a meeting with NYSDOT just after starting here, I was encouraged to consider joining ABCD.

The group is very engineer-driven, everyone involved in this chapter partakes in the process from the design down to the build. A benefit is that meetings are Professional Development Hours accredited. In New York you’re required to complete 36 PDH each triennial renewal cycle.

Q. What are you most excited to work on or towards with the Eastern Chapter?

This association gives a platform for all involved (owners, suppliers, engineers, consultants, contractors, and state agencies) to bring up issues in the industry and allows for more conversation and perspective on these issues.

The conversations foster change for the industry and allow for all involved to have better an understanding of what issues contractors like us are facing. It is also a great opportunity to learn about the local people and companies who are members.

Laura Stone, P.E.

Laura is an RPI graduate licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) in NY and one of four on staff. She has been a member of ABCD for approximately 10 years and is a current member of the Board of Directors (2021 to present).

Q. What made you want to join ABCD?

It’s a good opportunity to network with local contractors, consultants, and owner representatives.

Q. What are you most excited to work on or towards with the Eastern Chapter?

Seeing different technologies and advancements made in the industry.

Also, helping to highlight civil engineering and bridgework as a career path for young students.
