PROJECT BACKGROUND

Objective: Construct a roundabout at the intersection of I-587 and Albany Ave. Various sanitary sewer, storm sewer, and water distribution relocations.

Project Scope:

To improve traffic flow through a congested intersection, the DAC heavy highway team worked with utility owners and NYSDOT to complete the traffic re-alignment with the least amount of impact on the traveling public as possible.

Even with numerous unknown utility conflicts, their experienced staff was able to complete the project ahead of schedule and within budget. To adapt to these utility issues, the DAC team collaborated with utility owners and the NYSDOT project team to redesign either the existing utility or the proposed utility.

This project solidified the strong team in the southern region to perform roadway/utility work, highlighting DAC’s ability to think outside the box when sequencing a project to shrink the overall timeframe.
