12 Apr Our Wilton Shops Hit 2,000 Day NLTI Milestone!
Safety is a central pillar of our mission. And we don’t call it our golden rule for fun – our team works hard and works together to maintain a safe work environment for their co-workers and the public at every site, shop, pit, and quarry.
That is why we’re so excited to announce that our Wilton shops—comprised of the Equipment Maintenance Facility, Small Tool Warehouse, and the Weld-Fabrication shop—hit a milestone on 2/20/22: 2,000 days with No Loss Time Injury (NLTI).
As of 4/12/22, 383,241 hours have been safely worked since 8/29/16!
Accredited OSHA VPP Star Worksite: 2012 to present
The Voluntary Protection Programs (VPP) recognize employers and workers in the private industry and federal agencies who have implemented effective safety and health management systems and maintain injury and illness rates below national Bureau of Labor Statistics averages for their respective industries.
In VPP, management, labor, and OSHA work cooperatively and proactively to prevent fatalities, injuries, and illnesses through a system focused on: hazard prevention and control; worksite analysis; training; and management commitment and worker involvement. To participate, employers must submit an application to OSHA and undergo a rigorous onsite evaluation by a team of safety and health professionals.
Safety improvements made as a part of this program:
- Established monthly life safety maps
- Purchased 8 portable Bluetooth equipment lifts to help reduce ergonomic strain
- Purchased 55-gallon drum barrel carts to help with fluid efficiency and cost savings
- Installed PPE & material consumable vending machines to increase availability and reduce cost
- Implemented a glove policy
